Busting facts about Web 3.0

Web 2.0 is the current version of the internet while Web 3.0 is the next phase of the internet. Firstly, the web refers to the World Wide Web which is the internet’s core information retrieval system. While web 1 was the earliest form of web discovered; bland pages of HTML(hypertext markup language), web 2.0 saw a major shift such that websites were more user friendly, dynamic, and had user interested context. Web 3.0 is the upcoming phase where control will be decentralized. Currently, with 2.0, the web is being controlled by a central entity such as the government and the two tech giants- meta and amazon. Through this user data is vulnerable at the hands of the centralized entity and can be manipulated or leaked. However, with web 3.0 users take ownership of their own data. Web 3.0 relies on blockchain technology which is decentralized meaning there is no one primary authority owning user data. Each user has accessibility and control over the platform their using online. Examples include crypto, NFTs, etc. While the security of Web 3.0 is still being looked upon, the democracy it brings about is a boom for users.
